With Local Streaming the MBG server need not handle multiple Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) streams, which improves resource allocation within and efficiency of the MBG server. In the absence of local streaming, an RTP stream goes from one SIP device to the MBG server and from the server, to the other SIP device. When local streaming is enabled, the RTP stream goes directly from one device to the other device, eliminating the need for MBG to handle the RTP stream. You can enable local streaming between SIP devices, between SIP trunks; and between SIP devices and trunks.
While this option reduces traffic in the MBG server, it also circumvents the recording of these sets. For information about call recording and local streaming interaction, see Recording teleworker Sets.
Note: If both Local Streaming and Call Recording are enabled globally, and a CRE (Call Recording Equipment) is connected to the MBG server, the Call Recording option takes precedence. Local streaming would not take effect even if it is configured.
To enable local streaming globally:
On the MBG main page, click the System configuration tab and click Settings.
In the MiNet options panel, select Device <–> device local streaming to enable it.
In the SIP options panel, select:
Device <–> device local streaming to enable local streaming between devices, that is between SIP devices or between SIP trunks.
Device <–> trunk local streaming to enable local streaming between a device and a trunk, the device here will be any SIP device.
Note: Device to trunk local streaming takes effect only if both SIP device local streaming and SIP trunk local streaming are enabled.
Click Save.
Note: You can also change the Local Streaming setting for individual MiNet and SIP devices.
