Editing a user group

Internal and incoming calls of a specified user group can be offered with the help of user groups. Here you define the user groups (members of the user groups), the way in which calls are offered and distributed within the group (call distribution), and other properties of a user group.

Unlike call distribution elements, user groups are defined once and for all. They cannot be deleted or opened. All or some (Mitel 470) user groups have a call number in the internal numbering plan after a first start.

Routing to a user group

Routing to a user group is usually via a call distribution element. Internally they can also be addressed by speed dialling their call number or using dialling by name.

User group settings

Table 1. User group

Parameter

Explanation

User group number

Reference number (ID) of the user group.

Call number

Call number of the user group.

Name

Name of the user group.

Call distribution

Global: Call is offered to all members simultaneously.

Linear: Call is offered to each member in turn. Starts always with the first member.

Cyclic: Call is offered to each member in turn. Starts with the first member, then as of the second call always goes on to the next member.

Table 2. Destinations and settings

Parameter

Explanation

Large user group

Use the large user group if you need a simple user group with a large number of members.

The user group assumes the properties of a large user group:

  • The limitation on the number of members is lifted.

  • The user group can be used as the destination for a Call Forwarding Unconditional.
  • PC operator console and general bell cannot be added.
  • Call distribution is linear or cyclic, but not global.
  • No subgroup can be formed.
  • Members with active Call Forwarding Unconditional are temporarily excluded, even if the setting Remain in user group if forwarded to an external destination is activated for that user.

General bell

An incoming call is also routed to the general bell.

General bell delay

The call signalling on the general bell is delayed.

Operator phone

An incoming call is also offered to the PC operator console.

Operator console delay

The calls are signalled on the PC operator console with a delay.

Member group delay

The Call distribution within the member group (main group and delayed subgroup) begins with a delay.

Member remains in user group if forwarded to external destination

Members with a CFU to an external destination remain in the user group, provided the parameter Remain in user group if forwarded to an external destination is activated in the user configuration.

Entry in unanswered call list

This setting only applies to the special user groups 25 to 29 respectively (Mitel 470)

An incoming call is also entered on the call list for unanswered calls if it is answered by the voice mail system.

Show redirecting user identification

This setting only applies to the special user groups 25 to 29 respectively (Mitel 470)

If the call is redirected, this is seen by the caller.

Accept collect calls1

Collect calls to this user group are allowed. This setting is taken into account only if the parameter value Depending on destination is assigned to Collect call handling in the bundle settings.

Default value:

Note:

If the user group has been redirected to a mailbox, the collect calls are always rejected.

Home Alone

The caller obtains busy as soon as a member in the user group is busy.

User group and call forwarding unconditional

A user group cannot be used as the destination for a CFU, unless it is a large user group (Large user group setting) or one of the special user groups 25 to 29.

Delay and transfer delay

You can specify the delay and transfer delay in the system settings (View / System / General).

Logging in and out of a user group

Any member of a user group can use the menu selection or a function code to log out (#48xx) and log back in again (*48xx). The last remaining member can no longer log himself out.

A user who is logged in with several user groups can either log in and out simultaneously with all the user groups or specifically with one individual user group.

Special user groups 25 to 29

The special user groups with the reference numbers 25 to 29 are provided for integrating external applications (e.g. integrating an external voice mail system). The properties of special user groups differ from ordinary user groups on the following points:

  • A special user group can be used as the destination for a Call Forwarding Unconditional.

  • In each case redirections to these user groups due to Call Forwarding will be carried out only once the call forwarding time has elapsed.

  • A member of a special user group cannot forward a call to another special user group. This is true even if the member has logged out of the special user group beforehand.

  • Calls to these user groups are offered to the member even if he has activated call forwarding (the member's CFU is ignored).

  • Special user groups do not support call distribution to the operator phone and general bell.

  • Call distribution is linear or cyclic.

  • Subgroups cannot be created.
