Registering Mitel SIP corded phones

Corded Mitel SIP phones are registered on the communication server via the registration user name and registration password. Alternatively, they can also be registered via the MAC address.

Note:

Prior to the registration, reset any phones that were already in operation back to the factory setting, to avoid clashes with the existing local settings.

Registering with registration user name and registration password

You can register a Mitel SIP phone on the communication server with the help of a registration user name and a registration password:

  1. Check whether a free Mitel SIP Terminals or SIP Terminals licence is available.

  2. Create the phone model you want from the Mitel SIP series.

  3. Assign the phone to a user and click Apply.

The parameters Registration user name and Registration password as well as the parameters SIP user name and SIP password are automatically filled in.

  4. Connect the phone to the IP network and restart it.

For addressing with DHCP, the phone detects the communication server when the DHCP server provides the IP address of the communication server in the appropriate DHCP option. If that is not the case (or for static addressing) and when the phone is in the same subnet as the communication server, the phone detects the communication server thanks to multicast DNS. If there are several MiVoice Office 400 communication servers on the same subnet, a list is displayed from which you can select the right communication server.

The phone display shows the prompt Login, asking you to enter the registration user name and registration password. You will find the registration user name and registration password on the list of unregistered Mitel SIP phones in the SIP registration view.

  5. Enter the Registration user name and Registration password.

Your entries are transmitted to the configuration server together with the terminal's MAC address.

  6. Add the other settings as required.

Registering several phones

To facilitate the registration of several phones, you have in the SIP registration ( =tp) view a list of all created phones, which are linked to a user but are not yet registered. To do so proceed as follows:

  1. Create all phones as described in the above guide up to and with Step 3.

  2. Connect all phones to the IP network according to Step 4 in the above guide.

  3. Open the SIP registration ( =tp) view and enter successively in the phones the registration user name and registration passwords as explained in Step 5 in the above guide.

  4. Add the other settings as required.

Alternative registration using the MAC address

You can also register the Mitel SIP phone to the communication server with the help of the MAC address. To do so proceed as follows:

  1. Follow the above instructions "Registering with registration user name and registration password" up to and including Step 3.

  2. Enter the phone's MAC address. You can find it on the label at the bottom of the phone.

  3. Connect the phone to the IP network and restart it.

  4. Add the other settings as required.
