Editing a SIP account

Lets you open and edit a SIP account. An SIP account is required for each SIP access. For each SIP provider you can set up several SIP accounts and therefore several accesses.

The SIP accounts are used to register with an SIP provider. As a rule each user has his own SIP account, which is assigned to him through the dialling-in number. It is also possible for several users to make outgoing calls through a single SIP account, i.e. via the default account. One (1) default account can be set up for each SIP provider.

The Add an SIP account overlay view provides only the main settings. In the table below, these settings are marked with an asterisk after their name.

Table 2. Registration

Parameter

Remarks

Registration required

The communication server tries to register with the SIP provider. The SIP provider is then informed about the SIP user’s current location.

Registered

Operator console status

Default account

The default account allows users without SIP account to make calls via the SIP trunk.

Registers when offline on

With this parameter you define which satellite in offline mode will use this SIP account.

Explanation: In a AIN all SIP calls are handled by the master. This means that the master performs SIP registration for all SIP provider accounts. When a satellite goes offline, the satellite must be able to register the own SIP accounts to the same SIP provider, so that the users on this satellite can still make external calls. To enable this, the master must de-register from all SIP provider accounts that the satellite will use.
