Operation and maintenance
Here you can find out how an IP system phone is replaced or moved and how the communication system or AIN can be expanded with more IP system phones.
First start and restart
Restarting the IP system phones initializes the local software and logs the phone back on to the Master.
You can trigger a restart either via the Offline menu or by briefly interrupting the power supply.
- No calls can be made during the restart
- A first start of the IP system phone resets all the addresses.
You can trigger a first start either via the local configuration menu "Local phone configuration" on the phone or using the following procedure:
-
Unplug the IP system phone's power supply cable.
-
Hold down the Correction key and reconnect the phone to the power supply at the same time.
The boot menu is displayed.
-
Press the “7” key.
The phone is reset to the initialization state and restarted.
Replacing an IP system phone
The instructions below explain the procedure for replacing an IP system phone.
-
Delete the MAC address of the previous phone in the communication server's terminal configuration (setting MAC address).
-
Unplug all the IP system phone’s connectors.
-
Address the replacement phone "Addressing IP system phones manually".
-
Register the new phone "Registering IP system phones on the communication server".
-
Carry out a connection test.
Connect the IP system phone elsewhere
The instructions below explain how to change the connection point of an IP system phone without having to change the call number, user name and terminal settings. The communication server does not have to be taken out of service. To do so proceed as follows:
-
Unplug all the IP system phone’s connectors.
-
Connect the IP system phone to the power supply and the IP network at the new location.
-
If the phone is statically addressed and the new site is located on another subnet, you must adjust the IP addressing "Addressing methods". In all other cases this step is not necessary.
-
Carry out a connection test.
Deploying additional IP system phones
Check the following expansion and design limitations before using another IP system phone:
-
Maximum number of system phones
-
Available VoIP channels
-
Available bandwidth in all IP network parts concerned.
To do so proceed as follows:
-
Create the terminal data in the communication server and assign it to a user.
-
Address the phones "Addressing methods"
-
Register the phones "Registering IP system phones on the communication server"
-
Check the settings of the bandwidth control with regard to the new IP system phones.
-
Carry out connection tests.
Software upgrade on the IP system phone
The software package for the communication server also comprises the application software for the IP system phones. The communication server updates the application software for the IP system phones automatically.
The boot software is updated along with the application software.
Information on the current software versions can be found in the offline menu or on the web interface of the IP phones.
