SMSC/ ESME

The SMSC (Short Message Service Center) is a software package integrated in the communication server that is responsible for the flow of messages within the communication server. The SMSC can also communicate with external message servers, the so-called ESME (External Short Message Entity). In this view you can configure the SMSC parameters and create up to 10 ESMEs.

Table 1. Settings Short Message Service Center

Parameter

Explanation

Port

Enter here the port for incoming messages of an external message server (ESME).

Priority

Priority as to how the reports should be handled.

Retransmission period

Undeliverable messages (e.g. phone memory full) are buffered in the SMSC. This value indicates the intervals at which an attempt is made to resend the message.

Note:

This value applies only to internal messages. The resend period for external messages is always one quarter of the validity period.

Validity period

Undeliverable messages are definitively deleted once the validity period has expired.

Note:

With external messages the validity period is usually also transmitted. If not, the internal setting is also used.

Tip:

All pending messages or messages that are more than three days old on all system phones can be deleted in the Text messages view.
