MBG provides a secure recording connector (SRC) service that allows third-party Call Recording Equipment (CRE) to record Mitel-encrypted voice streams. Two call recording configurations are supported: Direct and Indirect. The SRC service is supported in all network configurations with MiVoice Business/3300 ICPs.
With direct call recording, the MBG server is positioned between the MiVoice Business (3300 ICP) and the IP devices for both signaling and media. This puts the MBG/SRC in a position to send a copy of the media streams to the CRE on request.
To enable the devices to be recorded, you can point at the MBG/SRC server rather than the MiVoice Business using DHCP. Your DHCP setup will vary according to the percentage of total sets that you want to record. For details, see Selecting Sets to Record.
With indirect call recording, the MBG server acts as a "broker" between the Mitel equipment and third-party CREs for adding and removing taps on the remote devices. Instead of being connected to the MBG/SRC, the remote devices are registered directly to ICPs located in branch offices. The ICPs send copies of the signaling to the MBG/SRC while the remote devices send copies of the RTP media streams to the CREs.
Indirect call recording is supported on 5300-series and 6900-series MiVoice IP Phones using the MiNet protocol, ICPs with MiVoice Business release 5.0 SP1 or later, and a range of Call Recording Equipment (CRE). If your deployment includes a variety of set types, you can enable Indirect Call Recording for the 5300-series and 6900-series sets and Direct Call Recording for all other sets. Any set connected to MBG, like a teleworker set, also supports indirect call recording.
Indirect call recording can reduce costs and improve network flexibility. It is the best method to record remote devices connected to branch office ICPs.
With Tone Injection enabled, the tone will be injected in all recorded calls. See Tone Injection.
If Include tones in recordings is selected, the tones will also be included in the recordings. For some regions across the world it is not sufficient that the tone is heard by the parties in the call, the tones must be in the recording of the call as well.
Notes:
This feature is only supported with G.711U, G.711A, G.729 codecs.
MiNet and SIP codecs must be set to restricted to ensure that the tone is played under all call scenarios.
This feature is not supported with Indirect Call Recording.
After security is established using a one-time CRE enrollment procedure, the CRE can register with the MBG/SRC server and establish taps.
MBG/SRC servers can be grouped together in a cluster to provide redundancy, load balancing, scalability, availability and a single point of administration.
The SRC service is not limited to recording the prime DN of the telephone; however, the configuration or programming of the CRE can introduce this restriction.
If an ICP fails, the MBG server maintains all active calls until their completion.
SRC is supported to operate in all Network Profiles modes when MBG is configured.
