New Speech Navigation feature.
The NuPoint Unified Messenger IP product has been renamed to NuPoint Unified Messenger (NP-UM) and the release number has been reset from Release 12.5 to Release 3.0.
These changes have been made in order to highlight the unified messaging feature of the product, which is a key part of the Mitel Unified Communications offering, and to reflect the third release of the unified messaging portion of the product.
The Standard UM SMTP and Standard UM Web View user types have been combined into one user type, Standard UM. Standard UM provides full Web View access and limited MWI synchronization.
The support of Unified Messaging is extended to the Lotus Notes and GroupWise platforms.
For information for Lotus Notes and GroupWise users, see Getting Started, About Configuring Web View Access, Manage Distribution Lists, Record Greetings, and Manage Messages.
For configuration information, see Define Personal Settings, Configure Lotus Notes, and Configure GroupWise.
NuPoint Unified Messaging Advanced Unified Messaging now supports MS Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007.
For configuration changes, see Configure Microsoft Outlook.
The existing NP-UM Fax feature now offers outbound faxing from the Web View GUI or from the NuPoint Fax Printer.
For setup information, see Getting Started. For information on sending faxes, see Sending a Fax from the Web View.
The NuPoint Unified Messaging Speech Auto Attendant (SAA) is a speech-enabled application that allows you to place calls to people quickly and efficiently by speaking their names. In addition to placing calls by name, you can say a department name or telephone number. An online tutorial introduces you to the system features, and voice-based help is available to answer questions.
You can have up to four telephone numbers associated with your user profile (office phone, home phone, mobile phone and pager) and you can choose any one of these numbers as your default Speech Auto Attendant number.
See Define Personal Settings for more information on how to set your default Speech Auto Attendant number.
Note: NuPoint Unified Messaging must be licensed for the Speech Auto Attendant feature and must be configured as the user data source in order to use one of these telephone numbers as your default Speech Auto Attendant number. Refer to your System Administrator for more details.
For more information on how to use the Speech Auto Attendant features, refer to the Messaging User Guide.
NuPoint Unified Messaging interfaces can now be installed on the new Microsoft Vista operating system. This means that the Web View interface can now run on Microsoft Vista.
Note: The following Microsoft Vista versions are supported in this release: Vista Business, Vista Enterprise, and Vista Ultimate.
The Web View interface can now be configured on Internet Explorer 7.0.
See Configure Internet Explorer for configuration details.
A new field for the Personal Attendant Number has been added to the Settings tab. The user is now able to specify the attendant extension through the Web View interface and it will be saved in the mailbox data in the NuPoint Unified Messaging database.
This enhancement allows the user to transfer a call to the same attendant whether the caller is transferred while dialing 0 in the Call Director call flow or after being transferred to the mailbox. The call flow owner can specify the attendant number through the Web View interface and it will be stored in the mailbox database. In a call flow, the user can also specify that a call be transferred to the same attendant number. When a call falls on this action, the attendant number will be extracted from the mailbox database and the call will be transferred to that number.
See Define Personal Settings for more information. Also refer to the Call Director Help for additional details regarding the new functionality.
Advanced Unified Messaging (UM) provides advanced integrated-messaging capabilities to UM users on NuPoint Unified Messenger® IP Standard and IP Model 640 platforms. This feature offers:
• Microsoft® Exchange Server and Outlook® Integration
• Text-to-speech playback of e-mails
Advanced UM is available as a licensed option, on a per-mailbox basis. The NuPoint Unified Messaging Model 640 supports 6000 Advanced Unified Messaging mailboxes, and the NuPoint Unified Messaging Standard Edition supports 2500 Advanced Unified Messaging mailboxes.
See:
About Configuring Web View Access
The three Unified Messaging user types are now known as:
• UM Standard SMTP (formerly UM Standard)
• UM Standard Web View (formerly UM Standard + MWI)
• UM Advanced (new user type)
Integration of the NuPoint Unified Messaging voice mail server and the Microsoft Exchange email server enables Advanced UM users to access all of their messages (voice, fax, RAC, and email) from their Microsoft Outlook inbox as well from their NP-UM Voice mailbox. Full MWI synchronization is provided for voice messages that are accessed through the email client, and message status synchronization is provided for emails that are listened to from the NP-UM voice mailbox using Text-to-Speech (they are marked as read in the email inbox).
Users need to install the Outlook Client Plug-in to access all of their messages (voice, fax, RAC, and email) from their Microsoft Outlook inbox.
For information about installing the plug-in on an Outlook client PC and using the messaging features in Microsoft Outlook, refer to the NuPoint Unified Messaging Messaging User Guide.
Text-to-speech (TTS) capability is available with the Advanced Unified Messaging feature. TTS enables users to listen to Microsoft Outlook email messages over the phone, from their NP-UM Voice mailbox. The text of the email message is converted to speech and made accessible to the user from their voice mailbox.
Emails that are accessed through the TUI are marked as read (played) in the user's Outlook inbox. Users can play, save, and delete email messages. TTS licenses are purchased on a port basis. It is recommended that you purchase one TTS port for every two UM ports on the system.
The following languages can be selected for TTS playback: NA English and UK English.
For information on how to use the text-to-speech feature, refer to the NuPoint Unified Messaging Messaging User Guide.
You can install a NuPoint tab in Microsoft Office Communicator that links directly to the Web View interface and automatically logs you into your voice mailbox.
