Upgrade Options Definition Screen

If you have selected to perform an upgrade, you need to define the upgrade options in the Options Definition Screen. This screen allows you to define which of the following upgrade tasks should be performed:

Backup

The Backup option is required and performed by default. You can choose to save a copy of the database backup file to your PC and whether or not to include Call History records in the backup file.

For more information, see Performing a Backup

Embedded Voice Mail

The Embedded Voice Mail option allows you to add and remove language prompts used by the embedded voice mail application. You can only remove prompts when performing a Full Install.

NOTE:Support for embedded voice mail on an AX controller requires two flash cards. If the AX you are upgrading has only one card installed, the Embedded Voice Mail section will not be displayed.

For more information, see Installing Voice Mail Prompts .

Help Files

The Help files for the MiVoice Business System Administration Tool are installed on the controller by default. You can choose to install them elsewhere—for example, on your PC or network—or not at all.

NOTE: You cannot install the Help files on a 3300 AX due to limited memory space.

For more information, see Installing the Help Files.

Configure

The License and Options Selection (LOS) Configuration is optional and selected by default. Leave it selected if you need to enter License and Option Selection (LOS) data.

For more information on License and Option Configuration, see Configuring the LOS during an Upgrade.

Restore

The Restore option is required and performed by default. The interface also provides the option of restoring the Hotel/Motel wakeup information.

NOTE: If you chose to back up the Call History records, then they will be restored during the database restore process. If you do not want to keep the Call History records, then you can delete them using the History Delete All maintenance command. Refer to the MiVoice Business System Administration Tool documentation for more information on the use of this command.

Schedule Data Preservation and Software Activation

These options apply to Online Upgrades. They allow you to specify when to back up and restore the database and configure the licenses and options (collectively referred to as "Data Preservation") and when to reboot the system (referred to as "Software Activation") to complete the upgrade.

You can

Resilient Device Transfer

These options apply to systems with resilient devices. They control the transfer of these devices to their secondary controller. (The transfer minimizes service outage while the primary is rebooted to complete the upgrade.) You can start the transfer either immediately or after a specified waiting period elapses. An immediate transfer terminates any active calls. Waiting allows time for users to complete their calls before they are terminated.
