Use this procedure to migrate:
an unlicensed system to MiVoice Business Release 9.0 SP3 or later
a licensed system to MiVoice Business Release 9.0 SP3 or later, excluding the database and license information.
You can optionally back up the system's database, but you can restore a compatible database (using the MiVoice Business System Administration Tool) and license the system (using the Server Manager) only after the migration.
NOTE: This procedure is primarily designed to help you migrate your systems quickly by migrating only the bootloader and the software (excluding the database and the license information), and then license the systems in MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later as per your requirement.
The following platforms are supported for the migration:
AX
CX II
CXi II
MXe III
Before you begin the migration:
Note that during the migration, your system will be out-of-service, there will be a downtime when performing the migration, unless you have a resilient system.
If you intend to restore the system database after migration, then ensure that the database is compatible with MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later before you back up the database.
Ensure that the MiVoice Business system release is Mitel Communications Director (MCD) 6.0 SP3 or later.
Ensure that there is a LAN connection between the PC and the MiVoice Business system to be migrated.
Ensure that you have the IP address of the MiVoice Business system.
Ensure that you have the login ID and password of the MiVoice Business system.
(Applies only to an MXe III controller) Ensure that the E2T card has at least 1 GB RAM. Otherwise, the tool blocks the migration.
For CX II and CXi II controllers with 16 GB HDD, ensure that the voicemail size in the compatible database does not exceed 30 hours.
Ensure that the 3300 ICP controller meets the minimum RAM requirements:
Platform |
Minimum RAM |
CX II and CXi II |
1 GB |
MXe III |
1 GB |
Ensure that you have downloaded the software image zip file corresponding to the software on the replacement HDD/CF (For example, MiVB_ppc_image_9.1.x.x.zip) from the Software Download Center page on Mitel MIACCESS and have set up the repository.
Select the Full Migration option.
In the Software Repository Info area, in the Software Version field, enter the software load number, and then do one of the following:
If you have copied the software to an external repository, then click External Repository, and then enter the URL (with IP address or FQDN) of the server along with the directory up to the folder that contains the software load number folder. For example, http://10.35.83.83/SWRepo.
If you have copied the software file to a repository on your local PC, then click Internal Repository, and then click Browse to specify the directory up to the folder that contains the software load number folder. For example, C:\XYZ.
Click Next.
The Defining Full Migration Options
window is displayed.
Do one of the following:
If you want to perform a pre-migration audit of your MiVoice Business system, then select the Perform Pre-Migration Audit check box, and proceed with step 2.
If you have already audited
your system's database and a compatible database is available
for manual restore after migration, clear the Perform
Pre-Migration Audit check box, and proceed with step 2
or step 3.
By default, the check box is selected (recommended).
IMPORTANT: You must run the pre-migration audit for all MiVoice Business systems before migration to ensure your database is compatible with MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later. An attempt to restore an incompatible database will result in a default database.
(Mandatory if the Perform
Pre-Migration Audit check box is selected) Click Browse
and then select a directory to store the database file, and then enter
a filename for the database backup file.
By default, the check box is selected (recommended).
If you want to back up call history records, select the Backup Call History records check box.
If you do not want to back
up voice mail messages, clear the Backup
Voice mail messages check box.
By default, the check box is selected.
NOTE: If you want to back up voice mail messages, ensure that the voice mail message capacity is not more than 30 hours.
Clear the License and Option Configuration - AMC sync required check box is selected.
Click Next.
The in progress window is displayed.
Click Start to start the migration.
If you had selected the Pre-Migration Audit check box, after the tool completes the audit, the Pre-Migration Audit Warning dialog box is displayed. Click Audit Report to view the audit report. See Pre-migration audit report for more details on how to proceed.
If the pre-migration audit is not successful, then refer to the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document on how to prepare your database for a successful migration.
If the pre-migration audit is successful, then click Continue to proceed with the migration.
If the migration is successful:
Log in to the MiVoice Business System Administration Tool with the default password password and reset the password. Log in again and click the About icon, and verify whether the Release Level displays a MiVoice Business 9.0 or a later software version number.
License the system using the Server Manager.
NOTE: The default password for Server Manager is default.
Restore a compatible database using the System Administration Tool (Maintenance and Diagnostics > Restore).
For any issues, see Troubleshooting.
