The MiVoice Business Migration Tool helps you prepare and migrate your MiVoice Business system to MiVoice Business Release 9.1 or later.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended that you read the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document before proceeding to use the MiVoice Business Migration Tool.
You can use the MiVoice Business Migration Tool to perform the following operations:
Pre-migration audit - The tool audits your system's database and generates a pre-migration audit report that outlines hardware and system programming that are incompatible with MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later, and provides available actions you can take to make your system's database compatible with MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later. For more information, see the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document.
When you have a compatible database, proceed with migration with media replacement or full migration.
CAUTION! Restoring an incompatible database results in a blank database.
Migration with media replacement - The tool migrates the bootloader on your 3300 ICP controller. After the migration, you must manually replace the drive (Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Compact Flash (CF)) on the 3300 ICP controller with a drive containing the MiVoice Business 9.1 or a later software. After you replace the drive, you can license the system and restore a compatible database either restore manually or using the tool.
This operation supports two sub-operations:
Migration: Use this sub-operation if you want the tool to perform complete migration and you have procured a new replacement 16 GB CF from Mitel. After the bootloader migration, you must manually replace the current drive with a drive containing the MiVoice Business 9.1 or a later software. After replacing the drive, the tool proceeds with licensing the system and restoring the database.
Bootloader migration only: Use this sub-operation if you want the tool to perform only the bootloader migration. After the bootloader migration, you must manually replace the current drive with a drive containing the MiVoice Business 9.0 or a later software, restore the database and license the system.
This operation is applicable:
when your controller does not meet the minimum requirements of HDD.
when you have a HDD/CF with the required MiVoice Business 9.1 or a later software version readily available. Otherwise, perform a full migration.
NOTE: If minimum requirements of HDD is met and the RAM is insufficient, then you must upgrade the RAM and continue with the full migration operation.
Full migration - The tool installs the MiVoice Business 9.1 or later software and then restores the compatible database on a supported 3300 ICP controller. This operation is available when your controller meets the minimum requirements of HDD (16 GB for CX II and CXi II, and 60 GB for MXe III) and the RAM (1 GB for CX II, CXi II, and MXe III).
NOTE: This option is not supported for AX controllers.
NOTES:
The tool automatically disables operations that are not supported for your MiVoice Business system.
The pre-migration audit operation is available for all MiVoice Business systems.
The procedures in this Help are for migrating a single MiVoice Business system. To migrate your network, repeat the procedure for all the MiVoice Business systems in your network.
